What are Disney Performing Arts Workshops?
Virtually any type of performing group, from dance teams and theatre groups, to choirs, bands and color guard, to orchestras, can hone their skills as they take part in magnificent behind-the-scenes workshops. All workshops are facilitated by Disney professionals and expose groups to real-world, professional rehearsing and performing environments.
When are Workshops available?
Workshops are available with or WITHOUT a performance experience (Ticket Packages plus Workshop Fees are additional). Workshops range in length from 1.5–2.5 hours in length. Available to international ensembles and groups.
*NOTE: 20 participants are included in the initial workshop fee. There is an additional per-person fee for groups bringing more participants than the number listed. However, there is no fee reduction for groups bringing fewer than the number listed. Number of participants covered subject to change.
What is Festival Disney?
Festival Disney is a Disney-produced competitive music festival that gives instrumental and choral ensembles the opportunity to perform and receive feedback from nationally-recognized adjudicators while enjoying the magic of the Walt Disney World Resort.
Who can participate?
Middle, junior-high and high school concert bands, jazz ensembles, orchestras, and choral ensembles. Available to international ensembles and groups. No audition is required.
Where do performances take place?
Performances take place in or around the Walt Disney World Resort.
Is this a competition?
Yes, although Directors may choose between competitive and noncompetitive adjudication options.
What is the award structure?
All participating ensembles receive a Festival Disney Award and every member of the ensemble receives a Festival Disney medal. Within each division and classification, a “Best in Class” ensemble is selected (e.g., the top High School Concert Band in Class A or a Middle School Mixed Choir). The three highest superior-rated ensembles within each category, regardless of classification, are recognized with Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards. Awards are presented based on criteria outlined in the Festival Disney overview document.
